A Living, Breathing Façade

Built with a vision to provide shoppers with a holistic, multi-sensory lifestyle experience, ION Orchard launched its ION Art programme by unveiling its first artwork commissions as part of a dedicated art programme and also placing special emphasis on new and multi-media art, as ION Orchard launches a network of screens that form the ‘Skin’ of the mall that becomes a canvas for digital art, including animations from local design group Airspace, as well as the China 8 Design Collective, which comprises Chinese architects, engineers and graphic designers.

In addition to the ‘Skin’, ambient art is also presented on different LED-backlit surfaces and ceilings at various entry points to the mall.  These ambient animations, which include spring flowers and marine life, present shoppers with a sense of arrival into ION Orchard.
