SETTING UP TO BE A COMPETITOR
Determine which of the 5 Divisions you would like to compete in
Pick a song for your 1 Minute Prelim and 3 Minute Final Freestyle routine.
**Song must be family-friendly, no explicits/profanities.**
Gather the yo-yos best suited for your Division of choice and start practicing hard.
When the call for registration opens, register early and keep refining and practicing your routine.
COMPETITION FORMAT
1A
All competitors (unless Seeded), will need to compete in 1min Preliminaries. Following which, the top 5 Qualifiers from the 1min Preliminaries will move on straight to the 3min Finals. The 6th to 25th place from the 1min Preliminaries will move on to the 1.5min Semi-Finals. The top 10 from the pool of Semi-Finalists will then move on to the 3min Finals. 1A Finals will consist of Seeded Players, Top 5 from 1min Preliminaries and Top 10 from 1.5min Semi-Finals.
2A / 3A / 4A / 5A
All competitors (unless Seeded), will need to compete in 1min Preliminaries. The top qualifiers will then progress on to the 3min Finals and compete against the Seeded players.
JUDGING CRITERIA FOR PRELIMINARIES (1 MINUTE)
Technical Execution
(60%)
Judges use 2 Main Clickers:
1st Clicker – Positive points
Positive Clicks are given per unique trick element.
2nd Clicker – Negative points
Negative Clicks are given due to trick or control miss.
Technical Evaluation
(20%)
Control
(Control of yo-yo/string, Smoothness, Smooth flow and landings, Yo-Yo movement)
(0 – 10 points)
Execution
(Success rate, Trick completion, # of mistakes)
(0 – 10 points)
Performance Evaluation
(20%)
Choreography

DISQUALIFICATION
Contestant may be disqualified for any negligent and/or willful actions that endanger judges, staff, contestants, members of the audience, etc.
Any song deemed explicit, or with explicit content during the actual Freestyles will lead to an instant disqualification. If the competitor is unsure as to whether a particular song contains explicit content, it is his/her responsibility to check with the judges beforehand.
